I just saw this article on the NY Mag Web site and my jaw is STILL hanging open.
190 Bowery in NYC is a six-story, 72-room, 35,000 square foot single family home.
That's right. THREE PEOPLE LIVE HERE.
Photographer Jay Maisel bought this abandoned Germania Bank 42 years ago for $102,000. It is now estimated to be worth between $35 and $70 million.

I love this story and this building.
In 1965 when they bought it, the Bowery was a dangerous SLUM. They were crazy and true pioneers to dive in to this......and now their investment has (or will, if they ever sell!) paid off.
Why couldn't my dopey parents ever have taken a chance while there were still chances to be taken? like buying a house at the Jersey shore????
