No temperature

It is the best time of day and there is no temperature. The sun is just setting and it isn’t cool and isn’t warm and you can barely tell where your skin meets the air. Everything just is. It feels like it did all those evenings when we rode bicycles under Spanish moss for hours and the air smelled salty, slightly, and we talked and didn’t talk and either way was fine. We just were.

What's missing from real life that's sent us all clamoring for the anonymity of the Internet?

We're all so lost in the blur of life and buzz of technology that we're forgoing real face to face contact - real conversations, real martinis sipped on real wooden barstools - in favor of colliding daily with the html personalities of strangers around the world.

We all so badly want to be voyeurs.

To look at others lives.

To compare.

To see how we measure up.

To see how the other half live.

How both halves live.

What we're missing.

But by looking, we're missing it.

When I was younger I wanted to be a ballerina

I got older and came to think that it wasn't good enough  

that I should be doing something more worthwhile

now I realize 

you can save lives

or you can give people something to live for
