The bottom line is that (a) people are never perfect, but love can be, (b) that is the one and only way that the mediocre and the vile can be transformed, and (c) doing that makes it that. Loving makes love. Loving makes itself. We waste time looking for the perfect lover instead of creating the perfect love. Wouldn’t that be the way to make love stay?

I'm in the midst of reading Robbins for the first time - finally - and am quite liking it. His use of language is incredible. Still Life with Woodpecker

Even though we quoted Woodpecker at our wedding (not this bit), I didn't like the book enough to finish it. I like his women-centric books: Skinny Legs And All and Even Cowgirls Get The Blues most particularly.
